Since the Foundation was established in 2005, we have been able to sponsor and fund myriad programs and initiatives to improve Santa Cruz County and Capitola public safety and community services. The great majority of the funds provided to these programs and initiatives are generated by two annual Foundation events: The Capitola Rod & Custom Classic Car Show and the Golf Tournament. We are very proud if we are able to earn approximately $40,000 annually from these two events, but more proud when we are able to donate those monies to organizations or initiatives that improve local public safety and community services. Volunteer
In both the public and private sector, administrators are constantly seeking ways to enhance the effectiveness of their organizations. In the law enforcement profession, one way to do this is to recruit more officers. In Capitola, the Police Department has developed a way to maximize its service without incurring a substantial financial burden.The Capitola Police Department’s Volunteers in Policing (V.I.P.) Program is comprised of citizens from throughout the county. These trained volunteers are utilized to enhance crime prevention and community services. Learn more about the V.I.P. Program below
